Master Bedroom Makeover

Before
After
I love what paint can do in a room! We painted 3 walls classic taupe and 1 wall teal. We added a  better variety of pillows, a rug, lamps, curtains, and painted some black frames brown for our wedding photos. It's a more relaxing, peaceful environment now.

This painting means a lot to us because it reminds us of our wonderful study abroad experience in France in 2006. We were walking along the streets in Paris, and bought it from a sweet local artist. I'm so grateful to finally have a nice frame and mat for it in a place where we can appreciate it everyday.

Master Bathroom Makeover

Before

The first few days, I was so giddy about the changes that Wade would laugh at me because really, who's ever THAT excited to be in a bathroom? haha  The teal textured walls make my bubble baths sooo much more relaxing. love. it.

Office Makeover

Before
After
Highlight of the room = the beautiful painting of the Sacred Grove by Greg Olsen. It represents faith, trust, commitment, abundance, beauty, peace, and joy, all words that we want to portray in our business, One Joyful Family. It's been special to transform this room into a sanctuary where our mentoring clients feel safety, warmth, and love.

After painting the office, I was so excited to finally frame both of our bachelor degrees. Although, what excites me even more is that in 18 months, Wade will finish his MBA, and I'll get my Master's Degree 2 years after that. So we'll have 4 documents up there representing our love and dedication to education.

Kitchen Makeover

Before
After
My kitchen rug matches my living room rug. It's such a fun pattern.

In the corner of my kitchen is one of my favorite treasures, inspired by Julie B. Beck's talk, "Mothers Who Know".  My friend, Jenica, gave me the idea for the plaque and another friend, Stacy, made it for me. What a beautiful reminder! It's been really therapeutic to paint and unify these 4 rooms so they all flow together. I was even brave enough to let my kids help from time to time.
Now that I've made my home brighter and happier, I've been more motivated to keep it clean lately. This is a HUGE plus to any room redo, right? :) We just finished the master bedroom redo, and will have just a few hours of painting in the office and bathroom to finish the upstairs. Then we'll wait a few months before the downstairs redo so I can simplify life a bit for now. So exhausting, yet fulfilling to create happy areas in our home. What DIY projects have you tackled lately? I'd love to hear about them or even see pics!

Dining Room Makeover

Before
After
I have a blue chevron table runner along with this classic blue tablecloth Wade bought on his mission to France. It's nice to switch the two up from week to week.
We had originally painted the frames with the leftover hemlock bud green from the walls, but then we decided we needed more pops of blue since the accent wall next to it is green.
Our Family Mission Statement is also in a frame I painted blue, just like the Family Proclamation to the World in the entryway. It's been fun to sand, prime, and paint most of the plain black or brown frames we own  to add some color in our home. It makes such a difference in the before and after pics, right? And this is one of my favorite prints of Christ. It was a gift from Steve and Stacie one year for Christmas. The Greg Olsen print of Christ that was above the fireplace is now in Emily's room near her reading nook. More pics to come of that later... :)

Living Room Makeover

Before
I loved the baby blue wall. It just always got overshadowed by the dark tan wall, dark red wall, and dark red curtains. So we painted the main long wall classic taupe, and the accent walls a hemlock bud green.
After
 Refreshing right?
PS) The blue bench was so fun to redo! We had originally planned on painting the cabinet green, BUT now we are liking the natural look since there are other pops of bright colors throughout the room. What do you think?

Before
Notice the black couch, super comfy, but saggy
After
This brown Pottery Barn style couch is just as comfortable, but with crisp and clean lines. I can't believe the difference it makes in uplifting the energy of the room.
